How to add new Financial Dimensions in Dynamics AX

This is a pretty handy article to add new Financial Dimensions, We had to upgrade our Financial Dimensions from existing 3 to 5. This is for Dynamics AX 4.0 but pretty much works similar for Dynamics AX 2009

X++ Query for Grouping by Dimension

Recently, I was working on a requirement in our project for summarizing General Ledger Transactions grouped by Dimensions, For a little moment, I was stuck as Dimension field in the query needed to be handled in special way. Here is the query and we have to write Dimension with the array suffixed to it as shown here

Book Review: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Programming Getting Started

https://www.packtpub.com/microsoft-dynamics-ax-2009-programming/book

Firstly, I would like to thanks Richard for forwarding me a copy of this book for review and apologies for the delayed review.

I went through the chapters in the book and found the book to be very interesting, This book is written by Erlend Dalen and the book is divided into 12 key chapters on AX. The striking features of the book are:

a. Simple and Easy Language
b. Lot of Code snippets
c. Screenshots wherever required
d. Real world scenarios
e. In Depth Coverage of key concepts

Overall to summarize, I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is new to AX and also it's handy to the experienced guys too as it can be used as a refresher.

I really liked the way the chapters are organized. Hats off to Erlend for taking time and writing such a great book.

Resuming back..

Dear Friends,

I'm signing into my blog after couple of months, had around 290 comments to be moderated! phew! and most of it was spam :(

During these 2 months, I relocated to Melbourne (Australia) and am working on a huge Dynamics AX retail implementation project. The rollout is planned for 800 stores! The project is running on a tight deadline and there are loads of things to learn and work is keeping me full time busy, but that is no excuse for me not to be up to date with my blogs. I will be blogging as and when I take some time from my work. I have some interesting posts, so keep watching this space and thanks again for all your encouragement and support and happy reading!
